God asks for progress, not perfection

God asks for progress, not perfection
God asks for progress, not perfection

Perfectionists (like me) have trouble completing things because we know “it’s never good enough anyway, so why go on?” We struggle to see past our problem and aim towards completion anyway. God appreciates the effort more than the end result. This sign couches that sentiment in the words every perfectionist can appreciate: “Make progress” is more important than “Be God-like”. After all, nobody’s perfect, right?

I wonder if Attention Deficit Disorder is really a perfectionist’s problem…?

Marquee bonus: I love that the word “perfection” has an upside-down N. On another church I would think it was done on purpose, but this one is always making this kind of mistake. :-)

New Year's Day Worhsip
New Year’s Day Worhsip

Ok… there’s nothing actually funny about this one. It’s just a typo, and I see so few typos on church signs.

Happy New Year everyone!

Mary had a little lamb; His blood cleans our sins white as snow

Mary had a little lamb; His blood cleans our sins white as snow
Mary had a little lamb; His blood cleans our sins white as snow

Jesus is the reason for the season… but it’s really his bloody death that we revere him for. Want to remember Mary and Jesus this season? Think of the bloody death of Christ scrubbing away your sins. Somehow I don’t think this sign will appeal to the non-Christians. I guess this one is mostly to call Christians into the church for worship services.

Marquee Bonus: Is it Mary or Marx?

Every time I turn around the Lord keeps on blessing me

Every time I turn around the Lord keeps on blessing me
Every time I turn around the Lord keeps on blessing me

I do feel truly blessed. Maybe it’s because I turn around so often. :-) I like this sign, but I don’t know that it sells the church well. It’s just a nice sentiment. I think it’d make a nice postcard, don’t you?

Marquee bonus: “everytime” should be two words.

A lazy person aims at nothing and usually hits it

A lazy person aims at nothing and usually hits it
A lazy person aims at nothing and usually hits it

Here’s a fun reminder from the church to get off your duff and accomplish something today! It makes me think of the lazy people I know and how they usually don’t get anywhere. It also makes me think of the things I’ve procrastinated about and should get around to finishing! Yikes!

Do you know someone who needs to read this sign? Why not send him this page?

Marquee bonus: I love the creative use of color on this sign. :-)
