We're called by God to stand out, not to blend in
We’re called by God to stand out, not to blend in

This is the essence of Godvertising: God commands his followers to spread the gospel. They must make themselves visible to others in order to build the popularity of the divine message. This is why there are Jesus Fish on cars, psalms on bumper stickers and sayings on church signs.

Are you one of God’s children? Don’t hide it. Go tell it on the mountain!

I spent the last five months house-shopping. I actually found my dream house in the first month, and the last four months have been spent negotiating with the bankruptcy court trustee who is selling it. (It’s very complicated.) We’re so excited about this house! We have the key to the front door already, I’ve had the power, water and gas turned on, we’ve had it inspected, I repaired the leaking water heater already. God asks for progress, not perfection

God asks for progress, not perfection
God asks for progress, not perfection

Perfectionists (like me) have trouble completing things because we know “it’s never good enough anyway, so why go on?” We struggle to see past our problem and aim towards completion anyway. God appreciates the effort more than the end result. This sign couches that sentiment in the words every perfectionist can appreciate: “Make progress” is more important than “Be God-like”. After all, nobody’s perfect, right?

I wonder if Attention Deficit Disorder is really a perfectionist’s problem…?

Marquee bonus: I love that the word “perfection” has an upside-down N. On another church I would think it was done on purpose, but this one is always making this kind of mistake. :-)

Resolution for 2005: Let God handle it!
Resolution for 2005: Let God handle it!

Is God in charge of your life? He should be, according to the church. For your 2005 New Year’s resolution, celebrate what’s really important and let God take control.

It is His only job, after all. :-)
